The hotel is famous in the world of flyfishing and you will see the countless anglers who have stayed there and caught on the photos in the reception. It has been there as a hotel since the early 1800s and has been a fishing hotel since the early 1900s.

If that wasn’t enough there’s is a stretch of the river Rede just a short walk from the lodges where you can try for migratory salmon and sea trout as well as some wild brownys. From my fishing experience, this looks like an excellent place to visit and is on my list of places I want to visit (An ever-growing list!)

Info: A great place for a holiday. There are not many places that offer lodges, with hot tubs, that sleep 6 and have both lake and river fly fishing on site but this one does it all.

Hot tub: Yes, both lodges have a hot tub

Fishing: The lake is a 5-minute walk from the lodges and has trout and salmon to fish for on the fly. the fishing is described as relatively easy, they are generally on a catch-and-release basis but are open to discussion on taking an odd one for your tea.

On the side of the lake, there is a small hut where you can sit and enjoy the scenery with a drink even if you don’t want to fish.

Info: A great site on a working farm with just 2 lodges. We really like a small lodge site where you can fish the lake privately, or maybe with one other person from the other lodge. This looks like a great place for a fly fishing holiday and is well located in Shropshire.
