What makes a good remote lodge break?

Ditch the devices

Modern living involves smartphones, tablets and laptops. Phone calls, emails and on demand content whenever we want it. Try turning the devices off or even better leaving them at home.

Find nature

The UK is home to some of the most spectacular nature. Hundreds of miles of beautiful coastlines, stunning mountain scenery as well as an abundance of wildlife.

Slow down

Your remote cabin holiday can be every bit as peaceful as you’d imagine. Have that lie-in, have a late breakfast, and wind down completely to fully enjoy the experience.

Remote parts of the UK

Where you decide to take your isolated lodge holiday is likely to depend on where you live. Perhaps you don’t want a long drive or maybe the thought of a train journey is putting you off. The UK has many areas of outstanding natural beauty, which could be more accessible than you think.

Why did we choose Shepherds Huts?

For the optimal off-grid cabin break, we think that Shepherds Huts offer the best options.

Yes many come with all of the latest mod-cons including electricity, fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms.

Although you are looking for a remote holiday, there still has to be a certain amount of comfort to enjoy the few days that you are away.

The Shepherd’s huts that we have chosen are all exceptional and provide the best solution for remote cabin breaks. They are decorated and presented to the highest level and their location means that you can truly get away from it all.

Best time to go on an off-grid and remote holiday

This is all very dependent on personal circumstances. Nevertheless, we think, that an important part of a remote break is to be amongst nature and beautiful surroundings.

Being in the Scottish Highlands or Snowdonia is especially beautiful during the winter months when it snows. The views can be breathtaking. However, you have to put up with the cold, which is fine if your shepherds’ hut has a log burner.

In the Summer months, long walks across the Jurassic coast are equally as beautiful. When the sun shines here, the sea is a deep blue and the coastline looks stunning. You could be walking along any coastline in the world.
