What You Will Find At Badwell Ash Lodges
Badwell Ash lodges combine luxury accommodation with a countryside location. Based in Suffolk this is a small lodge site with just 4 lodges set across 3 lakes on the site.
The lodges
The lodges are built to a very high standard with Scandinavian wood. These are top-quality lodges where nothing has been spared. The site is focused on quiet and relaxation hence the small size and lodges perched over the lakes. You can fish the lakes from alongside the lodges with your own private peg.
Each lodge has a luxury hot tub to add to the level or relaxation!
A peek inside a lodge
The lodges are known as Heron Lodge, Kingfisher Lodge, Wagtail Lodge, Woodpecker Lodge and the Damsel Sheppards Hut which is for couples only. The other lodges can sleep up to six people. Inside the lodges, you can simply bask in luxury. You will be welcomed with chocolates, champagne, wine and a welcome hamper upon arrival and each guest will have a bathrobe, slippers, complimentary toiletries and luxurious bed linen. As if that isn’t enough, the log cabins are furnished to the highest standard with open-plan lounge diners, ensuite bathrooms with the master bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a large TV with surround sound, a music system, blu ray and even a barbecue for use on the wooden verandah.
Things to do on-site
Badwell Ash does place more of a focus on adult luxury and relaxation rather than activity-filled days, but on-site one can enjoy fishing in any of the three lakes and there is a rather large and fully stocked shop that sells local produce, alcohol, artisan gifts, honey, preserves and local ales as well as any fishing tackle you may need.
If you are looking for luxurious accommodation in a secluded adult-only getaway and you are not bothered about being entertained then Badwell Ash Holiday Lodges is for you.
What Else Will You Find On Site
Each lodge has its own fishing peg. From the website, it is clear that the lakes are well looked after with settings taking place every couple of years. This is an excellent sign of good fisheries management.
The stock is listed as having carp to 20lb with most being over 5lb and a good number of doubles. The photos on the website show carp that are at least upper doubles which is a good size.
The lakes also have mixed coarse fishing with coach, perch and bream being caught. There is no pike or catfish present.
As a carper myself I would classify this as a good place to go for a mixed holiday with some fishing rather than a specialist carp fishing location. A lot of reviews mention the carp are wary and hard to catch! If you are there for a week then pre baiting a spot regularly would defiantly help get them feeding.
